The Community Living Coach supports people with developmental, intellectual, psychiatric and other disabilities as they make choices about their lives and play valued roles in their homes and their communities. Coaches encourage people to explore what they want out of life and to chart their own journeys. The goal is to assist the person to lead a full and active life within the community

Must have good communication and writing skills; social and assessment skills; and good decision making skills. Must be able to work as a team member and have a commitment to work with persons with disabilities demonstrating a belief in the principles of rehabilitation, recovery and empowerment. Dependability with willingness and ability to work non-standard, flexible hours and respond in an on call emergency situation where back-up staffing is needed critical; Basic computer navigation and word processing skills essential. We are seeking candidates who enjoy active, "people-oriented" work and are sensitive to the needs and preferences of people with disabilities. In addition, need to be able to work both independently and as part of a team

Must complete 40 hours of classroom curriculum and 80 hours of OJT's (On-the Job Training) for Direct Support Person (DSP) certification. Must attend Blood Borne Pathogens and OIG Training with first 10 working days of hire and annually thereafter; must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid Certification after hire. Mush have reliable transportation, valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance. Employment is contingent upon completion of all background checks. MUST be 21 years of age or older and meet the DMH credentialing requirements of a Rehabilitative Services Associate (RSA) to work in mental health residential settings.
